The Point tool is one of the Measure tools. It lets you determine the coordinates of a location or find a location based on geographic coordinate values.
Follow the instructions beneath the illustration to hover over a location on the map and find out the coordinates. You can also use this feature to input coordinates and find the location on the map.
Live Mode Icon
Click the Coordinate Conversion icon in the vertical toolbar:
The Coordinate Conversion toolbar expands and the Live Mode icon is selected by default:
Move to a Location
Move your mouse to a location on the map to display the coordinates of that location.
Coordinates Window
The Coordinates Window opens. As you move the mouse over the map, the coordinates continue to change in the Coordinates window.
Format of Coordinates
Select the format for coordinates you want displayed:
•DD – Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (Y° A' B"N, X° C' D"E)
•DMS – Decimal Degrees (Y°N, X°E)
Add Conversion
If you want to see multiple formats of the current geographic coordinates displayed, click the Add Conversion button, and select an additional format from the drop-down menu.

The coordinates associated with the current location of your mouse on the map appears here.
Input Coordinates
•A pop-up dialog opens where you choose DD or DMS as the format and then input the coordinates of a location in the correct format. For example, if you select DD, you might enter: 39.958N,083.0024W.
•Put a checkmark next to Go to location and click Convertfor the map to automatically pan to the selected location (shown with a circle).
Live Mode
Click the icon to return to Live Mode. As you move your cursor around the map, the coordinates appear in the pop-up dialog
Format Settings
A pop-up dialog opens where you choose ONE of these formats for coordinates:
•DD – Decimal Degrees (for example: Y° A' B"N, X° C' D"E )
